Karkala, Mar 28, 2016 : Bindas Artistes (a WhatsApp group), a team of 39 talented artistes from undivided Dakshina Kannada district with the motto 'Our talent - Help the needy' organized 'LAR Nite', its most awaited charity show on Easter Sunday, March 27 in open air theatre at Madhuvan Gardens, Jodukatte, Karkala from 6.30 pm onwards.
The event was blessed by Fr Pascal Menezes, parish priest, Kera and Fr Anil Kiran Fernandes.
Addressing the gathering, Roy Castelino, President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, "I congratulate Bindas Artistes on organising this great show. We have heard about many such charity shows in and around us, but this show is unique. I am very glad to see that a WhatsApp group formed by young artistes of our coastal area striving hard to help the needy of our community. It shows their good heart. They not only participate in shows but also contributed their might and collected donations from their well-wishers. I wish they continue this good work and organise more such programmes in the coming days."
Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario said, "I am overwhelmed at the initiative taken by the Bindas Artistes and the support extended by Daniel Ranger by sponsoring the space. We need people like him to strengthen Konkani."
Songs of Bindas Artistes member and well-known Konkani lyric poet and composer Loyd Austin Rego, fondly known as LAR Taccode, were presented by group members and others.
Bindas Artistes group admin, Arun Danthy, well-known compere and TV anchor too rendered his melodious voice for the song 'Moga mujya'.
Herald Tauro and Verina (Bhangar Tum Mujem), Johnson Lobo (Tum Ye), Joel Attur (Viola) and Nester (Goalmal), Nester Hospet (Mog mhaka zala), William Padrengi (Diana), Wilson Lasrado (Kenna Kenna), Nihal Tauro (Medley) and other famous vocalists like Konkani legendary singer Eric (Dev borem korum) ‘Soad Rani Kogull’ Jaqueline Fernandes (Raat aichi and Yore yore), Jerry Bajjodi and Carol Pernal (Suryo Daryo), 'Soad' runner-up Ashwin D’Costa (Yore Pavsa), 'Ek Aslyar Ek Na' heroine Priya Menezes (Swapnam mantapanth) and Senet D'Cunha (Thornati choli) presented melodious songs of LAR.
The band members consisting of Rajesh and Edrin on keys, Rajendra on drums, Roshan Bela on lead-guitar and Manoj Lobo on bass rendered electrifying music, complemented by brilliant dances by Sthree Sanghatan, Miyar and Bindas Artiste Godwin Sparkle and Evita. Rib-tickling skits were presented by Bindas Pernal.
TV anchor and Bindas Artiste Alwyn Danthy, Pernal compered the show in his unique, humorous style and enacted a skit along with Bindas Artiste Melwyn Pernal and Lisa Pernal, entertaining the gathering.
The main attraction of the show was poetry session by Bindas Artistes LAR, Wilson Kateel and Chikka Pangla (Herman Mendonca). Splendid support was given by well-known artist of the community Bindas Artist Wilson Kayyar with his unique paintings. Two paintings were auctioned on the spot for Rs 17,000 and Rs 18,000 respectively, and the amount was added to the charity fund.
Audience too joined hands with a generous donation of Rs 19,000 during the show.
The list of sponsors of the event was read by Bindas Artiste and famous compere Rajesh Vamadapadavu.
Charity amount sum of Rs 70,000 was handed over to four needy families. On behalf of Austin Miyar - Ronald Castelino, family member of Stevan Kolalgiri, on behalf of Adrin Barkur - Elson Hirgan and Pranesh Moodbidri accepted the cash amount from the guests.
Bindas Artiste Anil D’sa Pangla’s maiden audio album 'Hanv Tuzoch' was released by 'Vishwa Konkani Kala Ratna' Eric Ozario.
The show was organized by Bindas Artistes Daniel Ranger (gram panchayath member and owner of Captain Caterers) and Joel Attur (head of Band Silver-tones).
The event was sponsored by Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy and co-sponsored by Archibald D'Souza and family and Daniel Ranger and family, Miyar.
